Hidden beneath the arena floor is a labyrinth of brick-walled corridors. This area contains sixteen animal pens, a complex system of counterweight-driven elevators, and the spoliarium where the dead are stripped of their gear. The theater is considered a sacred space during festivals. Any violence outside of the scheduled games is seen as a religious transgression. Members of the Cohors Arcana are permitted to carry weapons inside provided they remain in the Imperial Box or the technician tunnels to monitor for spiritual disturbances.

Two massive stone cisterns are located behind the main stage. They are kept full at all times using a dedicated branch of the city aqueduct. In times of siege, the Gilded Curve is designated as the primary water reserve for the city's elite guard units.
