• Ask about the red cord as if it is a trail marker, not a warning.
• Separate Sefu from the others and let them save face by blaming the plan on Teka.
• Offer to carry the grain ledger to a magistrate under guard.
• Search the charcoal kiln while keeping one speaker talking to the group.

• If the party offers aid, Sefu answers plainly but asks who sent them.
• If the party mentions starving families, Sefu becomes cooperative and calls for Teka.
• If the party draws weapons, Sefu lies about the headquarters and signals Hesh.
• If the party catches Hesh in a lie, Sefu turns against him immediately.
• If the party promises protection for the group, Teka reveals the ledger and the next grain drop.
