The party can expose Kett's boast, offer a more impressive public confession, or force the crowd to repeat a contradiction.

Player Approaches
  • Ask the crowd who first promised the impossible.
  • Quote Kett's boast back to her in front of witnesses.
  • Offer to perform one clearly stated favor before sunset.
  • Rename the debt in a way that includes all three fey.
  • Threaten to leave the city and make the debt impossible to collect.
NPC Gambits
  • Turn every question back on Kett: “Who promised that?”
  • Make the party repeat exact wording before agreeing.
  • Offer a confession with a loophole hidden in its final sentence.
  • Use the crowd's laughter as proof that the wording has changed.
  • Pretend to accept, then ask which fey is legally responsible.
NPC Reactions
  • A clever loophole earns Kett's respect; she grants one automatic success.
  • A direct threat makes her invite the crowd to choose the scapegoat; mark one failure.
