Tobble has a round, open face and a compact, sturdy frame, but moves with the quiet, precise balance of someone used to wet planks and shifting currents. His weather-browned skin is stippled with pale freckles across the nose and forearms; the backs of his hands are rough from rope, river grit, and years of hauling lines. His dark curls spring up wherever his cap presses them flat. He is usually still as a moored boat, yet his hands keep making tiny, quick adjustments to knots, buckles, and anything that might drift out of place. The unexpected softness is his smile: warm and almost shy, even when he is sizing up a threat.
