Gerrik Marstill
Species

Appearance
Gerrik moves like a man too used to carrying weight: every step is measured, knees slightly bent, shoulders set as if holding a shield even when he carries none. His face is a map of weather and worry — a diagonal scar runs from just under his left eye down across a hollowed cheek to the jaw, stopping short of a thinner, puckered line that cuts through his lower lip. He wears a cropped, hard-pressed beard threaded with premature gray only at the chin; his hair is shaved close at the sides and left longer on top, often tied back with a scrap of faded blue. His armor is practical and worn to a dull shine; over it he sometimes drapes a civilian coat with the hem singed and patched in odd places, an unexpected softness against chain and steel. When he laughs — which is rarer than his teasing — his fists soften and he looks younger for a heartbeat.
“Gerrik speaks with the clipped cadence of a man trained to give orders: short sentences, few adjectives, and a softening ‘aye’ at the end of assurances. He favors practical metaphors born of rivers and tools, and when irritated his voice loses its polite edge and becomes a low rasp.”

Distinguishing Features
Diagonal scar from under left eye to jaw
Shaved sides of head with longer top tied back
Worn brass whistle chained to his belt
A small, faded tattoo of three waves over his left wrist (partially covered by a leather cuff)
Voice
“Low, gravel-rough baritone; clipped consonants; rare smile gives a softer timbre.”
Clothing
Under his chain is a salt-stiffened linen shirt and a patched wool coat that smells faintly of river mud and leather oil. He favors heavy boots with hidden soles for extra grip and keeps a faded blue scarf — the last remnant of his unit's banner — looped inside his breastplate.
Body Language
Keeps his shoulders squared, often rests a hand on his shield rim or hilt; tilts his head when assessing someone and narrows his eyes when thinking.
