Appearance
Garruk is a broad, compact man who seems built for pushing through crowds rather than standing in them. His skin is permanently stippled with gray drain dust that no bath quite removes. He moves with a rolling, patient gait, shoulders loose and hands low, then becomes shockingly quick when violence starts. His most noticeable feature is his jaw: the left side is slightly overdeveloped from years of chewing tough river eel and leather, giving his grin a lopsided, almost friendly cast. His small, square teeth are stained amber from clove ash. He wears a tiny brass child's whistle on a cord around his neck, polished bright everywhere except where his thumb has worn a dark groove into it. The contradictory impression is of a brutal thug carrying himself with the careful gentleness of someone who is always trying not to wake a sleeping child.
“Low, measured, and unexpectedly courteous. He speaks in short clauses, pauses before names, and drops into a soft Yoruba-colored cadence when comforting children or making promises.”

Distinguishing Features
A polished brass child's whistle hangs at his throat, its surface worn dark beneath the place where his thumb constantly rubs it.
His lopsided jaw makes his grin look warmer on one side than the other, and his small square teeth are stained amber from clove ash.
He smells faintly of wet stone, eel fat, and crushed cloves.
He taps the whistle twice against his sternum before entering a dangerous place, though he never blows it in public.
Voice
“A low baritone with a damp rasp, like gravel stirred under water. He rarely raises it. When truly angry, he becomes quieter and pronounces every syllable with careful precision.”
Clothing
A patched charcoal gambeson beneath a riveted leather coat, dark trousers tucked into knee-high mud boots, a faded red sash used as a bandage or sling, and a brass whistle worn on a black cord
Body Language
He keeps his torso angled toward the nearest exit and rests two fingers lightly against his sword belt. When relaxed, he rocks faintly from heel to toe as if listening to underground water. Before violence, he stops moving entirely.
