Mister Light
Master of Ceremonies, custom noncombatant
Mister Light
Species
Shadar-kai
Appearance
Mister Light looks like a piece of midnight dressed for a royal procession. His charcoal skin has a dry, velvet texture that seems to swallow nearby lamplight, while tiny flecks of silver show across his knuckles like spilled glitter. He moves with a dancer's precision, favoring his left side as though every step has been rehearsed on a stage, then suddenly crossing a room in a blur when excitement takes him. His smile reveals small, square teeth filed almost perfectly even, giving his laughter an unexpectedly boyish quality. The contradiction is immediate: he presents himself as an extravagant master of delight, yet when a child cries or a performer falters, his expression becomes utterly still and severe.
“His voice is a polished baritone with a soft Georgian and Welsh lilt at the edges, never strong enough to obscure his words. He projects like an actor in a tent full of rain, shaping ordinary phrases into invitations and threats into courteous announcements.”

Distinguishing Features
His filed, square teeth make his laugh look almost childlike despite his grave, shadowed features.
He favors his left side while walking, but pivots sharply on his right heel whenever a performance begins.
The silver flecks on his knuckles glitter more brightly when he is excited or angry.
He smells faintly of lamp oil, sugared citrus, and cold stone after rain.
His shadow sometimes appears to bow a heartbeat after he does.
Voice
“A resonant, smiling baritone that can fill the Big Top without shouting, with a faintly archaic cadence and a habit of lowering to a near-whisper when he says something important.”
Clothing
A black velvet tailcoat stitched with silver thread, a high-collared ivory shirt, plum-colored waistcoat, narrow trousers, polished boots, and gloves embroidered with tiny golden stars. His coat lining is patterned with faded carnival tickets. A broad theatrical hat rises in a crooked sweep above his head, decorated with a single pale feather and a brass moon.
Body Language
He keeps one shoulder angled toward the crowd and the other toward the nearest exit. His cane and vane describe small conducting motions even when he is standing still. When genuinely angry, he stops gesturing entirely and folds both hands over the vane.
