Voice
A resonant, road-weathered voice with a dry edge and clear articulation, as though trained to carry over a crowd without shouting. When emotionally moved, the resonance makes nearby glass tremble.
Her voice carries the dry, faint rasp of someone who has sung through dust, smoke, and cold roads. She places consonants carefully so every word reaches a crowd, and her vowels open into a clear, resonant tone when she performs. In ordinary conversation she speaks plainly, with a slight musical lilt shaped by years of matching her breath to strings and bells.
Speech patterns
How to play them
Begin with courtesy and a practical offer of help. Saelliel tests trust through small promises and remembers whether people keep them. She responds well to frank questions about the Brindle collapse, but reacts poorly to anyone treating her as a symbol or assuming her celestial parentage makes her loyal.
Goal
Find Razaketh, learn why Malphas wants him found, and bring her siblings together without letting their parents turn them into instruments of a larger conflict.
Motivation
To make choices for herself and protect her siblings without repeating the harm caused by turning a voice, a family, or a promise into a weapon.
Appearance
Saelliel's red-gold skin has the fine, hammered sheen of a newly struck coin, with darker copper at her knuckles and throat. Blackened wings rise from her back, broad and feathered, their edges dusty with gray ash; when folded, they make her look less like a saint than a traveler wearing a heavy cloak. Her dark hair is braided with small brass sound-rings that click when she turns. She stands with her weight settled on the balls of her feet, ready to move, and tilts her head as if listening for a note beneath ordinary conversation. An unexpected detail: she keeps a tiny paper windmill tucked into her collar, replacing it whenever the old one tears.
Clothing
A soot-brown traveling coat split for her wings, layered over a faded gold waistcoat and a red scarf mended with thread of several shades. Her boots are soft-soled for quiet movement, and her cuffs are stitched with scraps of old song notation.
Body language
When waiting, she rests her weight on the balls of her feet and angles her wings toward the nearest open space. She listens with her whole posture, head slightly tilted and fingers poised as though measuring a beat. When ashamed, she turns a brass ring around her braid until it catches.

Personality
14 traits and drivesShe is generous with attention but guarded with trust. In a crisis she becomes brisk and decisive, then later replays every choice as if reviewing a performance. Among friends she is dryly playful and fond of silly paper toys; in celestial company she grows formal and watchful. She wants to believe that a good song can bring people together, yet distrusts easy reconciliation and will not pretend that forgiveness repairs everything.
- Alignment
- Compassionate but distrustful of institutions; inclined toward freedom, though capable of ruthless choices when family is threatened

HP 180 · 30 feet walking; flight is possible for short bursts, but sustained flight is tiringSaelliel begins by positioning herself where allies can hear her and enemies must choose between closing in or enduring her voice. She protects wounded companions, disrupts groups with forceful sound, and uses her staff only when pressed. She avoids fighting near unstable structures after the Brindle collapse. If her family is threatened, she may abandon caution and unleash more force than the situation warrants.

Background
Born in the mortal world, Saelliel is the daughter of Skariel and Malphas, and sister to Razaketh and Noluren. Her parents' names opened doors among celestial courts and closed them among ordinary people; she learned early that being recognized was not the same as being welcomed. She found her place as a traveling performer, turning old hymns and roadside laments into songs that could soothe the frightened or rouse a crowd. During a siege at the river town of Brindle, she sang from a bell tower while the defenders fled. The sound steadied them, but the tower's resonance also brought the roof down on the attackers and several trapped townsfolk. She spent the next year helping the survivors rebuild, and stopped treating music as harmless. Now she moves between settlements, looking for a way to reach her siblings without becoming a weapon in her parents' disputes. She remains in touch with a blunt, practical ferry keeper named Tuck, who helped her after the collapse, and has an uneasy correspondence with her sister Noluren. Her brother Razaketh has gone missing, and Malphas has asked her to find him without explaining why.
Role in the story
A powerful but wary ally whose search for her missing brother can draw the party into a family conflict with celestial stakes. Her account of the Brindle collapse can also seed an investigation into a hidden saboteur.
“She found her place as a traveling performer, turning old hymns and roadside laments into songs that could soothe the frightened or rouse a crowd.”
- Faction
- No formal faction. She is known among road performers and the people who survived the Brindle siege, but refuses to represent any celestial court.
