Mara Vell
Species
Human
Appearance
Mara is a lean, sun-browned human woman with the weathered grace of someone who has spent years walking fence lines at dusk. Her skin has the matte texture of kiln-dried clay, except for one pale, moon-smooth patch along her throat where a winter burn once healed wrong. She moves with a calm, economical stride, but her left shoulder occasionally jerks as if remembering a long-ago accident. Her hands are ink-stained, scarred at the fingertips, and always warm to the touch. The most unexpected thing about her is the collection of tiny glass bells sewn inside her sleeves, which make no sound when she stands still but chime faintly when she is frightened.
“Measured and practical, with a dry plain-spoken wit. She avoids grand claims, but when she believes something matters she speaks with surprising intensity and a low, steady certainty.”

Distinguishing Features
A silver burn scar across her throat shaped like a broken crescent.
Tiny glass bells stitched inside both sleeves that faintly chime with fear.
Left shoulder that rises a little higher than the right after an old injury.
Callused fingertips stained permanently with charcoal and blue ledger ink.
Voice
“Low, dry, and slightly husky from smoke, with a calm cadence that can harden into iron when she feels a lie in the room.”
Clothing
A soot-gray wool coat with reinforced elbows, a patched green apron full of chalk, twine, and copper nails, sturdy plain boots, and a scarf wrapped high against the wind. At her belt hangs a small brass lantern and a bundle of sealed account slips.
Body Language
Still as a post in public, but quick to lean in when listening. She keeps her shoulders slightly angled away from open flames and unconsciously shields her throat with one hand when startled.
