Kaelen Copper-Vane
Artificer (Battle Smith) 9 / Fighter 2
Kaelen Copper-Vane
Species
Rock Gnome
Appearance
Kaelen Copper-Vane is a rigid rock gnome whose body seems assembled rather than born. His skin has the dull, mottled color of weathered brass, with fine green oxidation gathered in the creases around his nose and knuckles. Angular metal augmentations rise from both shoulders like folded fins, each one engraved with tiny inspection numbers and scarred by old lightning strikes. Precision optics rotate behind his left eye, producing a soft mechanical whirr whenever he scans a room. He moves with abrupt, exact motions, stopping so completely that he can appear to have been bolted to the floor. His most unsettling feature is his smile, which is warm, almost grandfatherly, even when he is announcing an arrest or ordering a tower cannon to fire.
“His voice is clipped, resonant, and slightly doubled by a throat amplifier. He speaks with the measured cadence of a military report, pausing before important words as though waiting for machinery to confirm them.”

Distinguishing Features
A rotating brass optic embedded in his left eye.
Shoulder augmentations shaped like folded mechanical wings.
A vertical scar of blackened tissue running from his right ear to his collar.
Steam vents in his military coat that hiss whenever he loses his temper.
A brass memorial token worn beneath his armor and never shown voluntarily.
Voice
“A dry baritone with a metallic undertone, like a kettle beginning to boil inside a locked vault.”
Clothing
A heavy smoke-charred military coat lined with heat-resistant crimson fabric. Functional brass spire-pipes run along the collar, sleeves, and spine, venting pressure when his temper rises. He wears segmented black-metal armor beneath the coat, reinforced gloves with interchangeable tool fingers, a high-buttoned officer's vest, and steel-soled boots engraved with the names of fallen watch officers.
Body Language
Kaelen stands unnaturally straight, with his hands folded behind his back and his head tilted by precise degrees as he evaluates people. His optics focus independently, one studying a speaker while the other watches nearby exits. When displeased, his shoulder augmentations lock rigidly and his coat vents short hisses of steam. When genuinely moved, he becomes very still and touches the brass token bearing his sister's initials.
