Appearance
Daro looks like a man assembled from practical parts: broad shoulders, sturdy hips, thick wrists, and a neck permanently reddened by years of rough collars. He moves with an economical sideways turn, always keeping one shoulder angled toward the nearest doorway. His face is plain at first glance, but his expressions arrive late, as if each one has to pass inspection before being shown. He has a surprisingly delicate way of handling small objects, lifting a cup or buttoning a cuff with the care of a jeweler. His clothes are visibly mended, yet his shield is polished to an almost absurd brightness. People remember the quiet scrape of its rim against the floor before they remember his face.

Clothing
A faded blue guard coat hangs badly from his shoulders because it belonged to a larger man. The sleeves have been shortened twice, and the cuffs are reinforced with strips of red tent canvas. Beneath it he wears a quilted gambeson, patched trousers, and soft-soled boots for silent watch duty. His only immaculate possession is a round iron shield bearing the worn white mark of the Bastion Defenders.
Body Language
Daro stands slightly too close to walls and keeps his shield hand near his chest even when relaxed. He gives people his full attention by turning his entire torso toward them. When lying, he becomes unusually still and presses his tongue against the inside of his cheek.
