Appearance
Nadya is a young woman with a narrow, thoughtful face and an athletic softness that makes her seem both sturdy and unfinished, like a statue still being carved. Her hair falls to her hips in heavy, flowing sheets, but it never keeps one texture for long. Near her scalp it may glisten like dark water, halfway down it may clump into ochre curls like wet clay, and at the ends it may burn with smokeless blue-gold flame while wind lifts every strand in a different direction. The transitions move slowly unless she is frightened, when her hair snaps through all four elements in seconds. Her teeth are unusually broad and slightly pointed at the canines, giving her smile a foxlike edge. She laughs with her mouth open and covers it only after remembering that strangers find the sight startling. She takes up more space than her thin frame suggests, turning suddenly, trailing sleeves, and allowing her bird's light to fill every corner of a room. The contradictory impression she leaves is of someone visibly dangerous who handles every fragile object with extreme care.
“Her voice is low, quick, and precise, with a softened river-port accent. She pronounces technical words carefully but rushes through personal confessions.”

Distinguishing Features
Hair that visibly and continuously shifts between water, earth, fire, and air.
A luminous shape-changing bird perched on her shoulder.
Broad, foxlike teeth that show prominently when she laughs or eats.
A blue-gold woven robe whose patterns seem to move when viewed from the corner of the eye.
A faint smell of rain on hot stone follows her indoors.
Voice
“Quiet and resonant, with the dry warmth of a clay oven and the sudden brightness of a struck match.”
Clothing
Flowing blue and gold robes layered over practical trousers and soft leather boots. The outer robe is stitched with tiny geometric patterns resembling waves, cracked pottery, sparks, and wind lines. Its sleeves are too long by design and conceal chalk, salt, string, and small tools. A broad sash holds her spellbook, water flask, and a pouch of river stones.
Body Language
Nadya leans forward when curious and retreats only when emotionally threatened. Her hands are constantly occupied with knots, pebbles, cups, or strands of hair. When angry, she becomes unnervingly still except for the elemental motion in her hair. In crowded rooms she unconsciously spreads her sleeves and birdlight outward, claiming space before realizing she has done so.
