Mareda Eirwen
Fighter
Mareda Eirwen
Species
Dwarf
Appearance
Mareda is a young dwarf woman built like a compact athlete, with broad shoulders, powerful arms, and a long-legged, almost human proportion that makes her seem taller than she is. She stands perfectly upright even when exhausted, as if balance were a point of personal honor. Her face is unusually open for a dwarf, with a high forehead, a narrow bridge to her nose, and an expressive mouth that gives away amusement before she intends it. She takes up more space than her height suggests, planting her feet wide and turning her whole torso toward whoever speaks. The unexpected contradiction is her hands: thick-knuckled and callused from stonework, yet she handles tiny brass mechanisms with the delicacy of a jeweler. Within a minute of meeting her, most people notice that her eyes rarely settle on faces. They travel instead to door hinges, ceiling joints, loose paving stones, and the hands of anyone carrying a weapon.
“Her voice is low, clear, and unexpectedly gentle, with a measured rhythm like a mallet striking evenly spaced pins. When angry, she becomes more formal and uses full names.”

Distinguishing Features
She wears a thin copper chain around one wrist, threaded through with seven tiny washers taken from collapsed machinery.
Her beard is absent, but she has a narrow line of soft sideburn curls that she braids with blue thread.
Her left boot is visibly heavier than the right because its heel contains a concealed emergency chisel.
She pauses before entering any room to tap the nearest stone surface twice with her knuckles.
Her posture is so upright and deliberate that strangers often mistake her for a military officer.
Voice
“A low contralto with a clear, steady cadence. Her laughter arrives suddenly and sounds almost startled, as though she did not expect joy to find her.”
Clothing
A soot-dark blue wool tunic beneath a riveted chain shirt, reinforced leather trousers, heavy gray boots with copper toe caps, and a faded ochre half-cloak used as a dust mask. Her shield is painted with a white bridge arch broken by a single red line.
Body Language
She stands with her shoulders square and feet braced as if the floor might tilt. While listening, she studies the surrounding architecture more than the speaker. When embarrassed, she rubs one thumb over the copper rivet in her left glove. In combat, she leans forward like a door barred from the inside.
