Qazim Veyru
Wizard, School of Abjuration
Qazim Veyru
Species
Human
Appearance
Qazim looks like a scholar who has been repeatedly mistaken for a thief and has stopped correcting people. His movements are quick, economical, and slightly sideways, as if he is always avoiding an invisible puddle. He smells faintly of cedar smoke, lamp oil, and crushed mint. His hands are narrow and heavily ink-stained, with calluses along the thumb from turning pages too quickly. He smiles with genuine warmth while discussing dangerous magic, yet becomes visibly embarrassed when anyone praises his courage. The unexpected contradiction is that his clothing and posture suggest frailty, but he carries himself with the stubborn balance of someone accustomed to standing in collapsing buildings.
“His voice is soft, quick, and carefully articulated, with an off-beat stress that makes ordinary words sound like quotations from an older language. He often drops his volume instead of raising it.”

Distinguishing Features
A pale scar runs from the left corner of his mouth to his jaw, shaped like a crooked parenthesis.
His left thumbnail is permanently stained blue from an ink that no longer exists.
A tiny moth made of parchment usually rests behind his right ear.
He has a missing lower canine tooth and refuses to explain how he lost it.
His shadow sometimes turns a page when he is reading.
Voice
“A low, warm tenor with a dry rasp at the edges, as though every sentence has been carried through smoke. His laugh arrives unexpectedly and sounds younger than the rest of him.”
Clothing
A faded indigo coat reinforced with stitched strips of old maps, loose cream trousers tucked into soft leather boots, a copper belt clasp shaped like a sleeping fox, and a red scarf filled with hidden pockets. His sleeves are always rolled unevenly.
Body Language
He tilts his head when listening, taps two fingers against his wrist when calculating, and keeps one shoulder slightly raised as though sheltering a small bird. In danger, he becomes perfectly still except for his eyes.
