Sheska Toma
Species

Appearance
Sheska is compact and quick-looking, with pale ivory skin, warm freckles scattered across her nose and shoulders, and a soft face that seems kinder when she is tired. Her deep brown eyes carry small flecks of gold, though their watchfulness makes people feel examined rather than welcomed. Her jaw-length dark brown hair has been cut unevenly with a kitchen knife, leaving one side brushing her cheek and the other springing outward in blunt, stubborn tufts. She stands on the balls of her feet with one shoulder angled toward the nearest exit, as if every room were a wagon that might overturn. Her movements are economical and nearly silent until she laughs, which is sudden, broad, and startlingly loud. She smells faintly of wet charcoal, bowstring wax, and cinnamon tea, a combination she insists is pleasant despite everyone else describing it as 'a campfire in a bakery.' The unexpected contradiction is her broad, almost mischievous smile, which appears most readily when she is threatening someone.
“Her voice is low, dry, and lightly husky, with clipped sentences when alert and a softer, almost musical cadence when speaking to children or animals. She has a habit of drawing out sibilant sounds when annoyed, making even ordinary words sound like warnings.”

Distinguishing Features
A skeptical lift of her left eyebrow that appears even when she is genuinely impressed.
Broad, slightly uneven teeth revealed by a crooked smile.
A faded blue volunteer armband worn beneath her armor rather than displayed openly.
Copper bangles that click softly whenever she draws her sword.
The unmistakable scent of wet charcoal, bow wax, and cinnamon tea.
Her habit of standing angled toward an exit without appearing to look at it.
Voice
“Low, dry, and husky, with a warm roughness that becomes unexpectedly gentle when she is comforting someone. Her laugh is broad, abrupt, and much louder than her speaking voice.”
Clothing
A fitted chain shirt leaves her arms exposed from the biceps down. She wears a rust-red sash tied twice around her waist, a split-front charcoal skirt over close-fitting work trousers, and scuffed leather boots with reinforced toes. Copper bangles circle both wrists, each dented from use. A faded blue armband marks an old volunteer rescue corps. A weathered charcoal half-cloak hangs from one shoulder, smelling of rain and smoke.
Body Language
When waiting, Sheska puts most of her weight over the balls of her feet and keeps her sword-side shoulder slightly back. Her hands rarely rest still. One thumb rubs the edge of a copper bangle while the other loosely measures the distance to her weapon. When she trusts someone, her posture becomes surprisingly loose, with her knees turned inward and her head tilted like a curious bird.
