Bors Kadar
Species
Dwarf
Appearance
Bors is a broad, weathered dwarf with a rust-colored beard braided into three short cords, each capped with a different piece of spent mining fuse. His hands are thick and permanently darkened around the nails by lampblack, resin, and ground iron. He walks with a miner's careful, rolling balance, testing the floor with the edge of one boot before committing his weight. Within a minute of meeting him, most people notice his breathing: quiet and measured when calm, but when rattled he takes tiny whistling breaths through his nose, as if some unseen draft is passing through him. He wears a battered leather eye-shield over his left brow, not because he is injured, but because he hates bright sky glare. The unexpected contradiction is his delicate habit of repairing broken songbirds' nests with jeweler's patience, despite looking built to break doors off their hinges.
“Low, dry, and economical, with a roughened consonant-heavy cadence. He pauses before names, as if weighing them.”

Distinguishing Features
Three short beard braids capped with spent mining fuse
Permanently blackened nail beds and iron-gray calluses across both palms
A faint whistle in his breathing whenever he is frightened or furious
A copper ring worn on a cord beneath his shirt, containing a pinch of blue iron dust
He tilts his head toward stone before entering any unfamiliar room
Voice
“A low, dry baritone with a work-song rhythm, usually calm enough to make bad news sound manageable. Under stress, his voice becomes flatter while his breathing develops a faint whistle.”
Clothing
A soot-brown wool coat reinforced with overlapping leather plates, a moss-green scarf tucked under a ring of iron scales, mud-caked trousers, thick climbing boots, and a patched gray hood. His belt carries chalk, wedges, string, folded maps, and more small tools than weapons.
Body Language
Bors keeps his shoulders square and his feet planted wide, but his hands are always doing small work: tightening a strap, rubbing grit from a bolt, or tracing invisible lines across a tabletop. When uneasy, he leans his head toward the nearest stone surface as if listening through it. When genuinely frightened, his stillness becomes unnerving and his breathing turns into a faint nasal whistle.
