Tormund Vezsar
Fighter, Battle Master
Tormund Vezsar
Species
Dwarf
Appearance
Tormund is a broad, weather-beaten dwarf with a face carved into heavy planes by salt wind, bad sleep, and old arguments. His beard is thick and iron-gray, braided with tarred cord rather than metal, and the lowest braid is permanently stained green from years of handling copper fittings. His hands are square and scarred, with black crescents beneath the nails that no scrubbing can remove. He walks with a rolling sailor's balance, never quite still even on solid ground, and he turns his whole body toward danger instead of merely moving his eyes. The unexpected softness is in his expression when he hears music from a distant ship, when the hard lines around his mouth loosen as if he has forgotten, briefly, to be angry.
“His speech is low, clipped, and gravelly, with a warm Levantine-Hungarian cadence beneath the harbour slang. He swallows some word endings when irritated and stretches vowels only when delivering a threat or a piece of hard-earned affection.”

Distinguishing Features
A deep crescent scar crosses his right eyebrow and disappears into his beard.
The tips of his beard braids are tied with tarred cord from the vessel he sacrificed during the Red Lantern Gale.
His left thumb is shorter than the right due to an old winch accident.
A brass harbour badge is sewn beneath his coat collar, hidden unless he chooses to reveal it.
He smells faintly of lamp oil, wet rope, and cloves, the last scent coming from a habit of chewing clove buds during storms.
Voice
“A deep, rasping baritone that carries over gulls, surf, and shouted orders. When danger approaches, it becomes quiet enough that everyone nearby leans closer to hear.”
Clothing
A dark blue wool coat reinforced with boiled leather at the shoulders, a salt-stiffened canvas apron, high waterproof boots, fingerless gloves, and a brass harbourmaster's badge worn under the left collar rather than displayed openly. His belt carries chalk, twine, a folding knife, a whistle, and three different keys.
Body Language
He plants his boots wide, rests one hand on the haft of his axe, and leans slightly into the wind even indoors. While listening, he studies a person's hands, belt, and footwear before their face. When unsettled, he rubs the green-stained braid in his beard between thumb and forefinger.
