Tamar Kvekhi
Rogue, Inquisitive
Tamar Kvekhi
Species
Cinderclaw, Hoard-Warden
Appearance
Tally is a compact ochre-scaled Cinderclaw with a long, wedge-shaped snout and small copper-colored horns tucked close to her skull. Her scales are matte at the shoulders from years of carrying crates, but polished bright along her wrists where the leather apron rubs. She moves with quick, economical steps, never quite colliding with anyone despite making no apparent effort to avoid them. She smells strongly of lamp oil, dry pepper, hot metal, and the faint sour tang of old ink, a scent she insists is evidence of honest work. Her most unexpected feature is her softness around the eyes, which makes her severe expressions look almost maternal until she begins reciting a missing shipment's serial numbers.
“Her voice is low, dry, and quick, with a rasp like a quill dragged over rough paper. She clips unnecessary words from every sentence and gives numbers their own careful emphasis.”

Distinguishing Features
Copper magnification monocles that flash with reflected forge light whenever she turns her head.
A left thumb stained permanently blue-black from a counterfeit ink accident.
Sixteen apron pockets, each marked with a tiny brass symbol that she can identify by touch.
A habit of smelling ink, metal, and wood before accepting them into the stores.
A small brass tally bead woven into the frill beneath her jaw for every person she personally saved during a supply crisis.
Voice
“A dry, rapid contralto with a furnace-smoke rasp, unexpectedly gentle when speaking to frightened workers.”
Clothing
A heavy, soot-dark leather supply apron with sixteen labeled pockets, reinforced shoulder straps, brass measuring rings, fingerless work gloves, gray wool trousers, and soft iron-soled boots. Her copper magnification monocles hang from a chain at her throat when not in use.
Body Language
Tally leans forward when listening, bringing her face and copper monocles uncomfortably close to the speaker. Her hands are never still. They tap figures into her tablet, straighten buckles, test the edge of a knife, or pinch dust between finger and thumb. Around officers, she occupies as little space as possible. Around frightened workers, she plants her feet wide and becomes a small, stubborn wall.
