Click Ledger-Gate
Rogue, Inquisitive
Click Ledger-Gate
Species
Cinderclaw, Hoard-Warden
Appearance
Click Ledger-Gate is a compact Cinderclaw with dark amber scales that fade to soot-black around his knuckles and jaw. He wears brass-framed monocles over bright copper eyes, though the lenses are constantly smudged by furnace dust. His gaze rarely settles on a speaker's face. Instead, it flicks from hands to boots, belt pouches, wagon wheels, and the corners of nearby walls, cataloguing movement and escape routes. His hide is dry and finely ridged from years beside heated gateworks, yet his movements are delicate and almost scholarly. The contradictory impression is immediate: he looks like a nervous, overworked clerk, but he occupies a room with the alert stillness of a hunting cat.
“Click speaks in a brisk, careful cadence, with every sentence shaped like an entry in an official record. When agitated, he becomes more formal and begins citing regulations from memory.”

Distinguishing Features
Brass-framed monocles held in place by a fine chain that disappears beneath his left collar.
A narrow strip of pale scales along his spine, a hereditary mark among the Hoard-Warden Cinderclaws.
A habit of smelling sealing wax before inspecting its stamp.
His permit ledgers are bound in mismatched hides, each taken from a case that changed Marches law.
He carries a tiny iron tally bead belonging to his missing clutch-brother.
Voice
“A quick, dry tenor with a rasp of furnace dust beneath each word”
Clothing
An oil-stained leather tool apron hangs over a charcoal-gray inspector's coat reinforced with brass stitching. Numerous pockets hold seal wax, magnifying lenses, chalk, calipers, lock picks, and folded warrants. His boots are fitted with heat-resistant soles, and a red inspection sash is tied twice around his waist, once for official use and once to hide a garrote cord.
Body Language
Click keeps his shoulders slightly hunched beneath the weight of his apron, but his head moves constantly, tracking sounds and hands. He taps one claw against his brass monocle when thinking, folds his tail around the leg of his stool when suspicious, and leans closer to dishonest speakers as though eager to hear more.
