Berrusk Seven
Species
Tectonic Forged, Foundry-Tempered
Appearance
Barrier-SevenSpecies is a broad, humanoid construct of dense grey basalt fitted with overlapping bronze-plated iron. Their heavy shoulder guards are engraved with old gate measurements, each line polished bright where generations of gloved hands have checked them. An amber Star-Sand core glows behind a thick chest grate, pulsing with the slow rhythm of a bellows rather than a heartbeat. Their head is wedge-shaped and nearly featureless except for two narrow furnace-slit eyes and a small grille used for speech. Dust gathers in the joints of their knees, while the palms remain strangely immaculate from constant contact with winch levers and locking bars. They move with ponderous certainty, yet possess an unexpected delicacy when handling keys, children, or cracked pieces of masonry. Within a minute of meeting them, most people notice the smell of hot pennies, rain on stone, and machine oil clinging to their frame.
“Their voice is a deep, resonant contralto with the vibration of a distant foundry bell. Every sentence sounds carefully measured, but a faint metallic tremor enters their speech when they are afraid.”

Distinguishing Features
Their amber Star-Sand core brightens visibly when they hear a lie within a few paces, though it cannot identify the liar.
The bronze plates over their left shoulder carry hundreds of tiny notches, one for every civilian personally escorted through the gate during an emergency.
Their fingertips are polished smooth from years of operating the same iron winch levers.
A narrow seam beneath the jaw opens and closes like a bellows whenever they are thinking hard.
Their footsteps produce a faint metallic chime because three original load-bearing bolts were replaced with salvaged temple bronze.
Voice
“Low, resonant, and deliberate, with the steady cadence of a heavy mechanism engaging tooth by tooth.”
Clothing
A weather-darkened gatekeeper's tabard hangs over their plated torso, fastened with bronze toggles. They wear a red iron sash bearing Gatefall's seal, thick leather tool straps, and a hooded ash-cloak for patrols beyond the walls.
Body Language
Barrier-SevenSpecies stands with their feet aligned like gateposts and rarely turns their torso when their head will suffice. They check the bronze ring around their chest grate whenever uncertain, tap two fingers against the winch housing before making a decision, and lower their massive frame slightly when offering reassurance. When angered, they become utterly still except for the tightening glow of their Star-Sand core.
