Appearance
Serev the Ward-Surveyor looks as though the forest tried to claim him and failed. He is lean and long-limbed, with the stooped posture of someone who has spent years ducking branches and listening for things that move without footsteps. His cloak is sewn from rain-dark canvas on one side and moss-green expedition wool on the other, a practical garment that is nevertheless edged with delicate silver thread, a contradiction he claims was 'an accident of promotion.' His hands are permanently stained with sap, charcoal, and a faint blue shimmer from ley-ink. When he walks, he places each foot with deliberate care, but his shoulders twitch at sudden bird calls as if his body is always a moment behind his caution. The most memorable thing about him is the calm in his face when everything else is wrong, a steady, almost teacherly patience that breaks only when he looks toward the fracture and his eyes go bright with private fear.
“Soft-spoken, exact, and often interrupted by brief pauses as he listens. He uses practical warnings, local names for places, and the occasional dry remark to hide how afraid he is.”

A torn survey map stitched back together with silver thread and bark fiber
A ley-etched brass compass that spins near active magic
A thin white scar across the throat from a branch that should not have moved
One glove permanently burnt at the fingertips from a failed warding test
A habit of going quiet whenever birds stop singing
Voice
“Low, careful, and a little husky from smoke and cold nights. He sounds like someone who is trying not to wake something.”
Clothing
Layered surveyor's coat, patched trail trousers, soft leather boots wrapped in climbing cord, a moss-cloth scarf, fingerless gloves, and a belt of hanging tools, flints, and map tubes
Body Language
Keeps his weight on the balls of his feet, eyes scanning the treeline, fingers always near his satchel straps. He touches the trunk of a tree before entering its shade, as if asking permission.
