Jessa Marrow
Artificer
Jessa Marrow
Species
Half-Elf
Appearance
Jessa Marrow looks as though she was assembled from useful pieces and refused a final polish. Chemical burns and fine, pale oil-scars cross her forearms and climb her left cheek in branching lines. Her skin is permanently dusted with a gray industrial sheen, and her blackened fingertips leave faint fingerprints on anything she touches. A pair of multi-lens magnifying loupes rests on her brow, each lens cracked in a different place, making her eyes seem to multiply when she studies a machine. She moves with a salvager's sideways caution, always testing the floor before committing her weight, yet her hands are startlingly delicate when handling broken constructs. The unexpected contradiction is her smile: it is soft, almost maternal, and completely at odds with her caustic voice and soot-streaked, half-burned face.
“Her voice is low, dry, and rasped by years of furnace smoke. She speaks quickly when explaining machinery and slowly when deciding whether someone deserves trust.”

Distinguishing Features
Pale chemical burns and oil-scars cross both forearms and the left cheek.
Her left eyebrow is threaded with a thin copper filament used to detect faint electrical currents.
Her fingertips are permanently black with industrial grease despite frequent washing.
One magnifying loupe is cracked into a starburst pattern and never removed from her brow.
She wears a tiny brass identification tag belonging to a machine that officially never existed.
Voice
“A smoky contralto with a clipped industrial cadence, usually dry with sarcasm but unexpectedly gentle around damaged constructs.”
Clothing
A heavy, scuffed canvas welder's apron hangs over reinforced leather work-clothes stitched with copper wire. Her boots have replaceable iron soles, her left sleeve is patched with fireproof cloth, and a belt of labeled tins carries screws, wire, resin, chalk, and salvaged lenses. Her multi-lens magnifying loupes are strapped to her brow, and a respirator hangs at her throat for emergencies.
Body Language
Jessa rarely stands squarely. She angles herself toward exits, machinery, and anything that might collapse. Her thumbs hook beneath her apron straps when she is suspicious, while her fingers tap small rhythmic patterns against metal when she is listening to a construct's residual memory.
