Tazka
Tazka
At the table
Voice
Her voice has the dry, lightly rasped edge of someone accustomed to speaking over drums and crowded rooms, with breath placed carefully from years of dance. It carries without shouting. When angry, she becomes more direct and faster, clipping words as if giving stage cues; when afraid, she asks precise questions rather than raising her volume.
She speaks Basic with clear, clipped consonants learned from years of cueing performers over noisy crowds. Her phrasing is economical and precise; when relaxed, she slips into vivid stage metaphors. Her breath is controlled from dance training, but captivity has left a dry catch at the end of some sentences.

How to play them
Offer practical aid without demanding trust. She responds well to people who treat prisoners as people, share useful information, and accept that she may refuse a risky rescue plan. Do not promise her family is safe without evidence.
Goal
Learn where Neral and Kiv were taken, then escape with as many prisoners as she can safely bring.
Motivation
Reunite with her family without treating other people's lives as expendable.
Appearance
Tazka sits barefoot on a dungeon bench with the poised, compact balance of a dancer waiting for a cue. Her rubis-red skin has a satin sheen where amber lanternlight catches her cheekbones; cool blue shadow gathers beneath her jaw and around the heavy grid bars. Her two red lekku, rooted in black-violet, drape over one shoulder, one threaded with tiny brass rings. A carved restraint collar, stacked bangles, and a heavy shackle on her left ankle glint against the worn stone; its long chain coils across the dusty floor. She wears a torn remnant of a once-pristine performance costume: sapphire wraps, a ragged translucent sarong, and ornate brass clasps. Her painted nails are fitted with narrow decorative spikes. Her smile reveals small, closely set teeth and a broad jaw that shifts visibly when she chews. Unexpectedly, she keeps a tiny, carefully folded paper theater tucked in her clothing and tends its creases with the concentration of a conservator.
Clothing
A torn remnant of a once-pristine performance outfit: sapphire dance wraps, a ragged translucent sarong, brass clasps, a carved restraint collar, and stacked bangles. The ankle shackle and chain are imposed restraints, not costume.
Body language
At rest, she folds into an apparently easy seated posture, but her weight remains balanced over the balls of her feet. Her gaze moves from hands to exits to faces. Under pressure she plants her heel against the chain, using its pull to keep her body aligned. When someone mentions her family, her jaw tightens and she presses a thumb to one brass ring on her lekku.

HP 18 · 9 m per turn while unrestrained; the fixed tether currently limits her to the chain's length.Avoids a fair fight. She watches for a weapon hand, uses chain tension or a sudden kick to break an opponent's balance, then moves toward cover or an exit. She will strike hard to protect another captive, but will not pursue a fleeing enemy if escape is available.

Background
Tazka grew up among traveling performers who staged acrobatic dramas in port cantinas and mining settlements. Her mother, Neral, taught her to read a crowd by its breathing; her older brother, Kiv, built props and claimed he would someday design a theater that could fold into a single cargo crate. During a performance on the moon of Vorduun, a local security chief demanded the troupe surrender a performer who had mocked his authority. Tazka distracted the guards long enough for several children in the audience to escape, but her family was arrested in the confusion. She was sold through a private holding house and separated from them. A later owner used her dance training for staged entertainments and punished her whenever she refused to perform for captors. The formative change came during a transport transfer: she could have slipped through an open service hatch alone, but turned back to unlatch another prisoner's restraints. They were both recaptured. Since then, she has refused to call survival a virtue if it requires leaving everyone else behind. Now held in a repurposed dungeon beneath an old fortress, she quietly maps guard routines and searches for evidence of where Kiv and Neral were taken. She trades small acts of help for scraps of information, while trying to decide whether a rescue plan is worth risking the prisoners who trust her.
Role in the story
A prisoner with a credible escape plan, uncertain family leads, and her own moral limits. She can become an ally, a source of information, or the person who challenges the party to consider what happens to captives left behind.
