Rowan Briar-Stitch
Cleric 6
Rowan Briar-Stitch
Species
Half-Elf
Appearance
Rowan is a broad-shouldered half-elf whose movements are slow only by deliberate choice. His hands are large, square-knuckled, and remarkably gentle, with fingertips permanently stained green-brown by sap, iodine, and crushed leaves. His sun-bronzed face carries fine crow's-feet and a pale stitch-mark running from the left corner of his mouth to his jaw, a reminder of the first patrol he failed to save. His warm hazel eyes make people feel listened to even when he is exhausted. Brown hair, neatly trimmed and silvering at the temples, is usually flattened on one side from sleeping against a rolled cloak. He walks with the grounded balance of a woodsman, placing each foot as if the floor might conceal a sleeping animal. The unexpected contradiction is that his immaculate surgical instruments hang from an apron spattered with old blood, berry juice, and cheerful yellow flower pollen, making him look simultaneously like a disciplined physician and a disreputable gardener.
“Low, measured, and reassuring, with a soft woodland cadence. He rarely raises his voice.”

Distinguishing Features
A pale stitch scar from the left corner of his mouth to his jaw
Sap-darkened fingertips and perfectly trimmed nails
A silver thread braided into his hair for every patient who died under his care
A small wooden bird pinned inside his apron, carved by Tamsin as a child
A habit of humming old woodland melodies while performing surgery
Voice
“A calm baritone with a faint rasp from years of smoke, herbs, and cold night air. His humming is tuneful but slightly off-key, which makes it strangely comforting.”
Clothing
A clean linen tunic beneath a heavy, multi-pocketed leather herbalist's apron, reinforced trousers, soft-soled patrol boots, and a cloth satchel worn across his chest. His apron contains labeled herb packets, bone needles, waxed thread, splints, tincture bottles, and folded scraps of patient notes.
Body Language
Rowan keeps his shoulders relaxed and his palms visible, even around armed strangers. While listening, he tilts his head slightly toward the speaker and counts breaths with his thumb against his forefinger. When angry, he becomes utterly still except for the tightening of the leather cord around his wrist.
