Nahrza Qadim
Species
Human
Appearance
Nahrza is a young woman with a composed, almost ceremonial stillness, as if she is always waiting for a page to finish speaking. Her hands are the first thing most people notice. The fingertips are permanently darkened by ink, the nails are short and translucent from years of scraping them clean, and fine calluses have raised along the sides of her middle fingers where quills rest. She moves with economical precision, turning her whole body rather than reaching carelessly, yet she has an unexpected habit of moving through a room like a dancer, stepping over stools and scattered folios without disturbing a single sheet. Her face is soft and youthful, but her attentive gaze makes her seem older when she studies someone. She gives the impression of a quiet clerk until she suddenly looks up and makes the entire room feel like a courtroom.
“Her voice is low, clear, and careful, with a soft Qasri cadence. She pauses before names, speaks faster when discussing manuscripts, and lowers her volume when saying something she believes must survive.”

Distinguishing Features
Ink stains form a permanent dark crescent beneath each thumbnail.
A tiny brass page-corner is braided into the hair above her left temple.
She constantly adjusts the copper ruler at her belt until it lies perfectly parallel to the floor.
Her fingertips are unusually cool, even in warm rooms.
She smells faintly of cedar shavings, lamp oil, and wet stone.
Voice
“A quiet contralto with crisp diction, soft Levantine inflections, and a habit of making ordinary observations sound like findings in an ancient trial.”
Clothing
A high-collared linen shirt, a sleeveless brown-green scribe's coat with many narrow pockets, a long cream apron marked by faded ink blooms, soft black trousers, and cloth-wrapped shoes chosen for silence. A copper ruler hangs at her belt beside a ring of tiny sealing stamps.
Body Language
She keeps one hand near her satchel or stylus and frequently presses her thumb against the base of her index finger as though checking for an invisible ink stain. When listening, she tilts her head slightly and watches the speaker's hands instead of the face. Under stress, she squares loose pages into perfect alignment.
