Salk
Cleric, Life Domain
Salk
Species
Beast-person, wolverine-like
Appearance
A stocky wolverine-like beast-person with a broad, wedge-shaped head and dense fur that lies flat except along his forearms, where it bristles whenever he is angry. His jaw is unusually powerful, and his lower incisors show even when his mouth is closed. He eats with tiny, precise bites, but when he laughs his whole muzzle opens in a startling display of blunt yellow teeth. He moves with a sailor's rolling balance, yet his hands are almost unnervingly delicate. His breathing is normally quiet and measured through his nose, but fear makes it turn shallow and rapid, accompanied by a faint clicking of his teeth. The contradictory impression is immediate: he looks built to tear through a hatch, but handles a needle as if it were a sacred instrument.
“Low, clipped, and practical, with rounded vowels colored by northern coastal accents. He speaks softly when giving orders and almost whispers when furious.”

Distinguishing Features
Lower incisors remain visible when his mouth is closed.
His laugh begins as a dry cough and ends in a sudden, toothy bark.
His claws are stained dark from years of iodine, ink, and ship tar.
A string of tiny brass tags hangs from his belt, each engraved with the name of a patient he failed to save.
He smells faintly of juniper, lamp oil, and cold iron.
Voice
“A low, dry baritone with a faint rasp, like a saw dragged across wet wood. When calm, his words are precise and nearly musical. When frightened, his breath shortens, his consonants become clipped, and his teeth click between sentences.”
Clothing
A salt-stained navy coat cut short for work, a cream linen shirt with the sleeves tied above the elbows, a leather apron treated with wax, gray sailor's trousers, and soft deck shoes. His coat is lined with pockets containing bandages, thread, forceps, and hard candy.
Body Language
He keeps his shoulders low and his head slightly forward, as if listening through the deck. When concentrating, he presses the tips of his claws together. When rattled, his nostrils flare, his breath becomes rapid and shallow, and his teeth click in a steady rhythm.
