Appearance
Marela Oduro is a compact, broad-shouldered human woman whose movements are startlingly gentle for someone with such work-worn hands. She walks with a slight forward lean, as if listening to the air ahead of her, and her fingers are always making tiny adjustments to cuffs, cords, or feathers. Her face is round and open, softened by laugh lines, yet one side of her mouth remains almost solemn even when she smiles. Her forearms carry a scatter of pale scars from talons and beaks. She smells faintly of cedar shavings, rain-damp wool, and millet. The unexpected contradiction is her hair, which is meticulously braided with pale silver cord, while her boots are permanently muddy and her apron is patched with bright scraps of children's festival cloth. She leaves people with the impression of being watched over, even when she has said very little.
“Her voice is low, warm, and carefully paced. She speaks softly enough that listeners lean closer, then places surprising force on the final word of an important sentence.”

Silver cord braided through otherwise dark hair.
A brass aviary tag engraved with the number 17, worn as a pendant.
One thumbnail stained permanently blue by a dye used to mark quarantined birds.

Voice
“A soft contralto with a patient rhythm, like someone soothing a nervous animal while discussing serious business”
Clothing
A faded ochre work dress beneath a sleeveless leather apron, reinforced canvas trousers, mud-dark boots, a blue headscarf, and a narrow silver cord woven through her braids. Her belt holds seed pouches, soft restraints, a folding knife, and three tiny brass tags.
Body Language
Keeps one hand near a pocket full of seed, tilts her head toward distant sounds, and rarely stands with her back to an open window. When lying, she becomes unusually still and presses her thumb against the second knuckle of her index finger.
