Willow-of-the-Reeds
Dryad-touched Ranger, River Witch
Willow-of-the-Reeds
Species
Wood elf, dryad-touched
Appearance
Willow-of-the-Reeds is a slim elven woman with the stillness of a tree reflected in deep water. Her skin has a warm brown tone beneath a faint green-gold sheen, and tiny reedlike markings climb from her wrists to her throat as though they were growing beneath the skin. Her hair hangs in long, dark ropes threaded with silver grass, brass wire, fish bones, and pale seed pods. She moves with a sideways, current-borne grace, rarely stepping directly toward anyone. Her face is soft and watchful, but her smile reveals one square iron tooth. Her most unsettling feature is the lantern she carries: its glass is filled with clear river water, yet a tiny school of luminous minnows swims inside it without moving their tails. She smells of wet stones, woodsmoke, and machine oil, an unexpectedly industrial scent for someone so deeply tied to the forest.
“Her voice is low, clear, and slightly wet in its consonants, as though every word has just been lifted from underwater. She speaks slowly when offering a warning and rapidly when discussing engines, gears, or practical repairs.”

Distinguishing Features
A lantern filled with living river water and luminous minnows
One square iron tooth visible when she smiles
Reed-shaped green-gold markings beneath the skin
A mismatched pair of gloves, one village-made and one living bark
A faint trail of damp footprints that sometimes appears behind her even on dry ground
Voice
“A low, clear voice with watery consonants, patient pauses, and a faint musical lilt that becomes sharply practical when she discusses machinery or repairs.”
Clothing
A weatherproof coat made from layered cattail fiber and faded green wool hangs over patched riding trousers. Copper buckles, tiny pressure gauges, and river-polished buttons hold the garments together. She wears one red work glove from Rivetmeadow and one bark-textured glove grown from living vine. Her boots are mismatched, one leather and one carved from hollow willow root.
Body Language
Willow tilts her head as though listening to a distant current, keeps one hand around her lantern, and rarely blinks when someone lies. When angry, she becomes motionless rather than animated. When relieved, she unconsciously rubs her iron tooth with her tongue.
