Appearance
Naeryx appears at first glance to be a severe undertaker dressed for a children's parade, but the impression changes once he moves. He stands perfectly still for long stretches, then crosses a room in a single smooth, noiseless glide, as if pulled along an invisible track. His skin has the matte gray texture of old candle wax, yet faint blue-violet light shows beneath it when he is angry or amused. His hands are long and deft, always checking the chain of his watch. The contradictory detail is his smile: when it finally appears, it is broad, sincere, and almost boyish, completely at odds with his funereal coloring and guarded manner.
“Low, measured, and almost whisper-quiet, with crisp consonants and unusually deliberate pauses. His accent carries the clipped gravity of Gloomwrought, softened by a lilting cadence that becomes more noticeable when he is tired or speaking privately.”

Distinguishing Features
The faint ticking of the Witchlight Watch can be heard when he stands within a few feet, though no one else can determine how it makes the sound.
A thin seam of violet light appears beneath his skin at the knuckles when he is stressed.
He smells faintly of cold metal, lamp oil, and sugared smoke.
His movements alternate between absolute stillness and sudden, track-smooth gliding.
He smiles with startling warmth when someone praises a worker rather than an attraction.
Voice
“A restrained baritone that sounds like a clock ticking behind a closed door. Before he speaks, he draws a soft breath through his nose, and the faint tick of the Witchlight Watch seems to answer.”
Clothing
A charcoal waistcoat over a high-collared plum coat, both cut in an old Shadowfell style and repaired with meticulous invisible stitching. Brass schedule tabs hang from his belt. He wears narrow black trousers, polished button boots, gray gloves, and a silver chain leading to the Witchlight Watch in his inner pocket.
Body Language
Naeryx keeps his shoulders square and his elbows close to his ribs. One thumb repeatedly rubs the edge of the Witchlight Watch through his waistcoat. When listening, he tilts his head a few degrees and goes utterly motionless. Anger makes him straighten his cuffs. Genuine affection makes him look away.
