At the table
Voice
A dry, slightly rough voice shaped by cold air, damp concrete, and years of speaking mostly to himself. His consonants are firm and his phrasing sounds like old military instructions, but his vowels soften when he speaks to Áron. Hunger makes his words more abrupt, not louder.
His German is clipped and workmanlike, with old-fashioned turns of phrase picked up from military service and decades of isolation. He speaks as if giving instructions when anxious, labels feelings as duties or failures, and uses the assumed name Günther with practiced flatness. He does not raise his voice to sound threatening; he makes short statements and leaves them hanging.
Speech patterns
How to play them
He presents himself as Günther, a proud, self-sufficient drifter, and tests strangers with small lies before offering anything useful. Practical help earns more trust than sympathy. Treat his bunker as a threat to his safety and he becomes immediately hostile; treat Áron decently and he may tolerate questions he would otherwise refuse. The custom profile uses 6 hit points as a house-rule measure of how much harm he can take before being incapacitated.
Goal
Keep his bunker undiscovered, remain close to Áron without revealing the full truth, and find a way to master the beast without surrendering the rigid beliefs that currently give his existence shape.
Motivation
To turn his hunger and violence into something he can call discipline, and to keep the one person who treats him as family from seeing what that discipline costs.
Appearance
Wilhelm looks like a carefully maintained boy who has been left out in winter: pale skin with a faint waxy grain, straight blond hair combed neatly away from his brow, and a narrow, proud set to his shoulders. After feeding, warmth briefly blooms beneath his deathly pallor; when starved, his blue eyes cloud toward sickly yellow. He moves with deliberate economy, as if every room were a trench to cross. Within a minute of meeting him, people notice that his gaze keeps returning to doors, windows, and the darkest corner, counting exits without seeming to look. Unexpectedly, he keeps a tiny paper packet of flower seeds in the inner pocket of his coat and handles it with the care of a treasured relic.
Clothing
A neatly brushed, old dark wool coat over a mended shirt and plain trousers, practical boots kept surprisingly clean, and gloves with the fingertips worn smooth. He carries no visible insignia and has removed most identifying marks from his clothing.
Body language
His shoulders stay squared and his chin slightly raised, even when exhausted. His eyes travel around a room before settling on a person. One thumb repeatedly presses the folded edge of the seed packet through his coat; he stops only when someone catches him at it. In harsh contrast lighting he freezes, blinks rapidly, and turns his head as though the room has moved.

Distinguishing features
Personality
16 traits and drivesWilhelm is proud and fastidious about his appearance, yet lives among leaking concrete and stolen goods. He can be fiercely loyal to Áron while treating strangers as potential prey. In calm moments he is procedural and almost courteous; when hungry, cornered, or exposed to abrupt light, his composure fractures into blunt suspicion. He embraces the beast in himself when it gives him an excuse to act, then quietly fears that there is no separate human self left to defend.
- Alignment
- Ruthless and ideologically rigid, but still capable of fierce personal loyalty

Combat
HP 6 · Custom house-rule movement: ordinary human walking pace; no separate system speed statistic supplied.Wilhelm prefers ambush, close quarters, and an escape route he has already checked. He uses darkness and clutter to get close, then attacks whoever seems most isolated. He avoids prolonged fights and will retreat rather than risk capture or discovery of his bunker. Sudden glare or a flash from darkness can spoil his timing. He will not bite a living opponent unless desperate or convinced that nobody will see.

Equipment
- Wrapped Pipe (weapon)A short, heavy length of scavenged pipe wrapped at one end with cloth. Custom combat use: a successful Ugly Scramble action inflicts 1 harm.
- Seed Packet (personal keepsake)A small packet of old flower seeds, kept dry in waxed paper; he claims they are worthless.
- Hand Torch (tool)A battered torch with an unreliable switch. Its abrupt beam can disorient Wilhelm as readily as it can reveal a hiding place.

Background
Wilhelm remembers nothing of the life that came before his first rising as a Nachzehrer. He knows only fragments from the First World War: cold earth, the shame of desertion, and the conviction that he had failed when he ran. When the Second World War began, he enlisted eagerly, mistaking its familiar uniforms and strict slogans for a chance to become useful again. The war did not give him back a past or a purpose. It gave him new dead to feed on and hardened his belief that obedience to a brutal cause could quiet the thing inside him. In the decades that followed, he survived in the cold north of the old lands, alone often enough that he stopped noticing his childlike appearance never changed. Now, in 2026, he squats in a partly flooded wartime bunker beneath the remains of the old drainage works locals call the Low Cut. He has no steady work and steals money, food, and useful objects from victims. His one friend, Áron, a patient repairman who treats him as family without pretending he is harmless, sometimes brings batteries and dry clothes. Wilhelm is fiercely protective of the bunker and will lie, threaten, or kill to keep anyone from finding it. His current struggle is not whether he is a monster, but whether he can choose what the monster does.
Role in the story
A dangerous, lucid-at-times predator whose loyalty to one friend gives the party leverage and whose self-made ideology may either restrain or unleash him.

- Faction
- No current faction. He once served in the German army during the Second World War and remains drawn to harsh ideologies that promise order and absolution.
