Her scales have a fine pebbled texture, like glazed river stones, and catch light in tiny flashes whenever she moves. Two swept-back horns rise from her brow, each wrapped with thin gold wire bearing miniature house seals. She walks with careful, almost measured grace, but her tail betrays every strong emotion by making quick, irritated taps against the floor. Her hands are unusually noticeable: the claws are neatly blunted and stained with indigo ink, while the pads of her fingers are rough from years of repairing ledgers, treaty ribbons, and old ceremonial maps. She leaves an impression of polished confidence until she smiles, revealing a nervous gap between two small front teeth that she tries to hide behind her fan.
