Seshayi crouches on a rain-slick ledge with the compact patience of a cat waiting for a loose shutter to stop banging. Wet leather clings to her arms and ribs, while the hem of her coat hangs in uneven strips from years of rooftop repairs. Her face is narrow and watchful, with a half-smile that appears whenever she is most afraid. She moves in small, economical shifts, never quite settling her weight in one place.
