Appearance
Veska is a powerful, broad-shouldered woman with the compact density of someone shaped by years of lifting iron rather than training for display. Her pale blonde hair grows in tight, unruly curls that have been singed shorter on one side by forge sparks, while the rest is tied back with red wool cord. Her skin is sun-browned and dusted with permanent freckles, soot, and tiny silvery scars. She moves with startling quiet for her size, placing each boot as carefully as a dancer, then explodes into sudden violence when angered. Her hands are thick-knuckled and heavily scarred, but she wears a delicate blue glass ring on one finger and handles it with extreme tenderness. She leaves behind an impression of heat, iron, and intense attention, as though every person nearby is being tested for structural weakness.
“Low, clipped, and intensely focused, with a faint mountain accent that lengthens vowels in personal names. She speaks softly when angry, loudly only when giving orders over a forge.”

Distinguishing Features
A crescent-shaped scar runs from her left eyebrow to the edge of her cheek.
Her left thumbnail is polished blue glass instead of horn or nail.
Several small iron beads are braided into her curls, each one stamped with a dead miner's initials.
Her right forearm bears a pale pressure scar from the tunnel collapse.
Her voice becomes almost gentle when discussing dangerous machinery.
Voice
“A resonant contralto with a rasp like a file drawn across iron. Her laughter is sudden, bright, and much younger than the rest of her.”
Clothing
A sleeveless charcoal tunic beneath a leather smithing apron reinforced with overlapping copper plates, wool trousers tucked into mountain boots, red woven wrist wraps, and a weathered blue shawl worn only when she leaves the forge. Her apron is patched with scraps of old mining maps.
Body Language
She stands squarely with her weight balanced as if expecting the floor to shift. Her chin lifts when challenged, but her shoulders soften around children, animals, and exhausted laborers. When lying, she becomes unusually still and folds her hands behind her back.
