Appearance
Talrek is a tall, broad-shouldered tiefling whose presence fills a doorway before he says a word. His dark umber skin has a dry, weathered texture like fired clay, crossed by pale old marks from manacles, rope burns, and years of marching beneath highland sun. One horn rises in a long swept arc, ridged and polished by habit. The other is broken above the brow, not jagged but worn smooth, as though he has spent years touching the blunt end when thinking. His hands are the first thing most people notice: thick-knuckled, scarred across the palms, and permanently darkened beneath the nails by forge soot and old blood. His teeth are unusually square, with two blunt lower canines showing when he smiles. He moves with the quiet care of someone accustomed to carrying sleeping fugitives, yet when violence begins he crosses ground with startling speed. The contradiction is that his immense, martial body is paired with the delicate habit of handling cups, books, and frightened children as though they might shatter.
“Low, measured, and gravelly, with clipped consonants and a habit of pausing before names. His old ceremonial diction returns whenever he is furious.”

Distinguishing Features
One horn is broken above the brow and polished smooth at the blunt end.
His enormous hands have rope burns, quarry calluses, and blackened nail beds that never fully clean.
His square teeth and blunt lower canines show whenever he smiles, which makes his rare warmth unexpectedly disarming.
The inside of his cloak is embroidered with hundreds of tiny names.
He smells faintly of lamp oil, hot iron, and mountain herbs.
Voice
“A deep baritone worn rough by smoke, cold air, and too many public condemnations. He sounds like a man who learned to make every word carry across a prison yard, then spent years trying to relearn gentleness.”
Clothing
A battered suit of dark plate armor worn over a rust-red wool tunic, with strips of woven highland cloth tied around the wrists and belt. His cloak is patched from prison blankets and embroidered inside with the names of people he helped escape. He wears no visible holy symbol except a broken silver measuring ring threaded onto a cord around his neck.
Body Language
He keeps his broken horn angled slightly away from people in crowded rooms. His large hands remain open when speaking to civilians, but close around the grip of his sword whenever someone uses the words necessary or acceptable. When listening to a confession, he kneels even when it hurts.
