Species
Human
Appearance
Sura is a compact, broad-shouldered woman whose stillness feels more deliberate than restful. Sun and wind have roughened her copper-brown skin into a fine, leathery texture across the knuckles, neck, and cheeks, while the skin beneath her eyes remains unexpectedly soft from years of applying blue mineral salve. Her black hair is cut to her jaw and held back with narrow copper pins that click softly when she turns her head. She walks with a highlander's careful economy, placing each foot as if the ground might be hollow, yet when angered she suddenly occupies an entire room, shoulders squared and chin lifted. Her hands are stained dark at the fingertips with ink and powdered bell metal. The contradictory first impression is that she looks built for hauling stone, but handles every document as if it were a sleeping infant.
“Low, dry, and carefully paced. Her courtroom voice carries with startling force, while her private voice drops almost to a murmur.”

Distinguishing Features
Copper bell-metal stains permanently darken her fingertips.
Her copper hair pins click together whenever she turns her head quickly.
She carries a strip of red cloth covered in tiny stitched names rather than a conventional prayer book.
Her laugh is unexpectedly loud and hearty, completely at odds with her courtroom severity.
She pauses before doorways to listen to the building itself.
Voice
“A low contralto with a dry rasp, like stone dragged over stone. When invoking sacred authority, her voice becomes startlingly resonant and can be heard through closed doors.”
Clothing
A charcoal wool coat fastened with three square copper clasps, layered over a cream linen tunic and deep red woven sash. Her boots are wrapped in faded blue cloth to keep grit from entering them. A broad belt carries ink vials, sealing wax, folded witness slips, and a palm-sized bronze bell.
Body Language
Sura plants both feet before making a serious statement and touches two fingers to the nearest stone surface. In conversation she leans closer than most people expect, not from aggression but to catch changes in breathing. When she suspects deceit, her hands become perfectly still.
