Set the Scene

The adventure begins at noon during the busiest hour of the Veyrmarket. A tremor knocks loose awnings and jars of oil as a jagged fissure opens between the fruit stalls. Black crystal roots push through the paving stones, and a wave of cold air carries whispered names from below. Mara Venn pulls the characters aside while temple acolytes and Collegium apprentices begin sealing off opposite ends of the street.

Stakes

If the characters fail, the Root-Heart may grow through the city, turning the market into the first chamber of a resurrected battlefield. If either faction claims it, the breach becomes a weapon that could reignite the ancient war across Fae-Rune. The lives of hundreds of market residents are at risk, but so is the autonomy of the dead memories beneath the city.

Ticking Clock·The breach widens with each major delay. After three significant scenes, the Root-Heart begins forming a body. After five, the market's foundations start collapsing and both factions initiate their final rituals.

Background Lore

The city of Veyrmarket was built over the Ashen Scar, a battlefield where mortal armies, fae courts, and rune mages once shattered reality itself.
