Wulf Sakamoto
Wulf Sakamoto
At the table
Voice
A clear, work-worn voice with a little rasp from cold air and long days outdoors. His breath catches after steep climbs, and his words become blunt when he is exerting himself. His local French accent is effortless in this life; the remembered American cadence appears mostly in practical slang.
His French sounds native to the nearby Alpine valleys, though he remembers no childhood spent learning it. When tired, his English memories surface in clipped warehouse phrases about loads, shifts, and keeping things from sliding. He speaks in concrete, practical sentences; emotional subjects make him reach for a joke or a task.
Speech patterns
How to play them
Treat Wulf as capable, not as a curiosity. Give him practical work and a clear choice when possible. He responds warmly to shared labor and honest concern, but public teasing about his body or his fear can make him defensive. If someone is threatened, he may act before negotiating.
Goal
Secure a safe winter shelter for the Seven-Stitch Fellowship and learn why old boundary stones affect him.
Motivation
To keep the people who woke with him alive, and to make a life in this world without pretending the change cost him nothing.
Appearance
A handsome, hale young man with a locally familiar Savoyard look, built like someone who has spent years shifting heavy pallets. His dark hair is clipped close at the sides but stubbornly cowlicked at the crown, and he keeps rubbing a thumb over the beginnings of his upper-lip hair as if checking whether it is still there. His face is open and young until embarrassment tightens his jaw. He moves with a warehouse worker's economical habit of testing a load before lifting, then sometimes startles himself by raising it easily. He sweats heavily when exerting himself, and his work shirt often darkens at the collar. Unexpectedly, he is meticulous about keeping his boots brushed and their laces evenly knotted, even when the rest of his clothes are travel-worn.
Clothing
A patched wool jacket, linen shirt, sturdy trousers, brushed boots, and a borrowed scarf against Alpine wind. He keeps a small shaving razor wrapped in cloth in his pack.
Body language
He stands as if ready to catch a falling crate: feet set, shoulders forward, attention on other people's hands and balance. When uneasy, his thumb checks the fine new hairs over his lip. He squares up quickly when someone is mocked, but after an argument he often looks down at his own hands.

Background
Before this life, Wulf was an American warehouse worker who knew the rhythm of loading bays, aching shoulders, and break-room coffee. He was one of three women in the group that crossed into this world; after waking on the French side of the Swiss Alps, he found himself in a young male body with a local face and a local accent he had not learned. The change unsettled him, especially the new appetite, abrupt shifts in mood, heavier sweating, and facial hair that keeps appearing despite his attempts to shave it. He has accepted that he is male in this life, though acceptance has not made the permanent loss of his old body painless. During a storm, he once lifted a trapped cart free of a collapsed shelter with strength that felt thrilling for one breath and frightening for the next. That same night, sparks leapt from his hands near an ancient boundary stone. He now travels with the Seven-Stitch Fellowship, a tiny mutual-aid fellowship of displaced people rather than a political or religious order. He is close to fellow survivor Shreth, who trusts him with supply runs, and worries that Sibil, another of the original three, is keeping a worsening illness secret. Their immediate problem is finding safe winter lodging while a local steward questions their right to camp near old marked stones.
Role in the story
A displaced young man trying to make a home for his small fellowship while grappling with an inexplicable bodily transformation and a possible connection to ancient boundaries. He can be a steadfast ally, a source of grounded practical help, or the first warning that something uncanny is stirring in the mountains.
