Kheldrik Brask
Species

Appearance
Kheldrik is a tall, pale-skinned man whose body has been hardened more by wind, salt, and sleepless watch than by vanity or training-yard polish. His black hair is thick, shoulder-length, and usually bound at the nape with a strip of red-dyed seal leather. Red and black warpaint runs in two blunt strokes from his lower lip to his jaw, making his mouth seem wider when he speaks. He wears dark iron armor shaped in overlapping plates like a crouching wolf, each plate rubbed smooth at the edges by years of travel. The armor is severe and wolfish, but small blue glass beads hang from its collar, clicking softly as he moves, an unexpectedly delicate sound from such a heavily armed man. He walks with an economical forward lean, as if always moving into weather. Within a minute of meeting him, most people notice that he checks the leather cord around his left wrist whenever someone says the word home.
“His voice is low, rough, and economical, with clipped consonants and a rolling Gorik rhythm. He pauses before names, as if weighing whether the person has earned the breath required to say them.”

Distinguishing Features
Blue glass beads sewn into his armor make a soft clicking sound whenever he moves.
The red and black warpaint is applied asymmetrically, with the red line ending beneath his lower lip.
His hands are permanently roughened by salt, iron, and rope, but he keeps one thumbnail polished smooth for cutting wax seals.
A narrow strip of white seal hide is braided into his black hair, despite his otherwise severe appearance.
He constantly checks the oath cord around his left wrist without seeming aware of it.
Voice
“A deep, weathered baritone with a rasp like boots over frozen gravel. He speaks softly enough that listeners must lean closer, then lets silence do the threatening for him.”
Clothing
Dark wolf-shaped iron armor over a charcoal wool tunic, seal-hide boots, layered black trousers, a red sash carrying his tribe's oath knots, and a heavy gray cloak lined with stitched fur. His gloves are fingerless at the thumb and forefinger so he can feel weapon grips and knots.
Body Language
Kheldrik keeps his shoulders slightly forward and his feet planted wide, as if balancing on a deck in rough seas. His left thumb repeatedly rubs the oath cord around his wrist. When amused, he lowers his chin and lets out one short breath through his nose. When grief reaches him, he becomes extremely still.
