At the table
Voice
A polished London voice with clipped consonants and a faintly rehearsed smoothness. His breath catches slightly after a long flight, and cold air gives his words a dry rasp. He sounds most natural when giving directions; his formal pleasantries are excellent but visibly learned.
His voice is well-practised, clipped, and unmistakably London in its polished upper-class manner. He shapes consonants carefully, as someone who learned speech by listening and imitation. On duty he sounds reassuringly composed; irritated, he speeds up and becomes exacting, with a dry edge that makes a correction sound like a courtesy.
Speech patterns
How to play them
Begin with attentive, polished service. If treated as a fool, answer with a small lie or an unasked-for demonstration of competence. If confronted about his tricks, admit only what is already evident and bargain for a useful task instead of punishment.
Goal
Earn enough trust and standing at the lodge to choose his own routes and responsibilities, without surrendering his freedom to Louise or any other keeper.
Motivation
To be valued for his wit and work while keeping the right to leave whenever he chooses.
Appearance
A neat, very English-looking young man with clear green eyes and blond hair brushed into an unshowy side part. He has a handsome, composed face and a long, precise carriage, but his gaze keeps cutting toward ledges, open windows, and anything that might offer a perch. His skin is lightly weathered across the nose and knuckles from Alpine wind and outdoor errands. Every few minutes he checks the lay of his silk pocket square with two fingers, as if confirming a hidden feather has not worked loose. In his fae mien, great black wings fold close behind him; their feathers have a blue-green sheen and a rough, rain-dark texture. He can take the form of a huge raven.
Clothing
2026-era upper-class British menswear adapted for lodge work: dark navy wool overcoat, cream roll-neck, tailored charcoal trousers, polished but weather-scuffed brogues, and a restrained silk pocket square. His clothes are carefully maintained but plainly used outdoors.
Body language
Stands straight and still when on duty, with his chin slightly lifted. His eyes move more than his head. He checks his pocket square with two fingers, and his shoulders draw back instinctively when someone reaches toward them.

Distinguishing features
Personality
12 traits and drivesCareful, observant, and service-minded when guests are present; privately mischievous and quick to resent being managed. He can be genuinely helpful, but tends to turn trust into a test. When relaxed he is dry and companionable; when cornered he grows brisk, literal, and evasive rather than meek.

Combat
HP 0Avoids a fair fight. He misdirects opponents, seeks an exit or height, and changes to raven form when escape or aerial movement matters. If cornered, he uses talons and beak, then withdraws rather than stand and trade blows.

Background
Born a raven in the Tower of London, he learned people first by watching them: their routes, rituals, grudges, and the things they left unattended. As a young bird he was unusually fortunate, escaping several close calls and finding food where larger ravens failed. His first change into human shape came among the Tower's visitors, after years of studying their clothes and manners. He built his human bearing from observation, not upbringing, and knows more about the city's habits than his polished accent suggests. He later came into the service of a freehold lodge in the Italian Alps, a bath resort called Don't Ring After Snowfall, where he works as messenger and concierge. He was caught mid-flight while disrupting mortal and supernatural senses with faerie tricks. Louise Sarne de Scathach, the lodge's hired hand, forced him to behave and made plain that the lodge would not indulge his games. He now keeps his wings hidden from guests and performs his duties with exact courtesy, while quietly testing the limits of Louise's patience. He wants a place where he can be useful without being caged, and remains wary of anyone who treats his service as ownership.
