Rivaan Kiri
Steel Keeper
Rivaan Kiri
Species
Half-Elf
Appearance
Rivaan is a lean, sun-aged half-elf whose posture remains unnervingly straight despite his years. His bald scalp is polished by weather, oil, and habit, while loose folds at his temples deepen whenever he concentrates. He moves with the quiet economy of someone who has spent a lifetime conserving motion, yet his hands are surprisingly broad and callused. His most unexpected feature is his delicate spectacles, thin-framed and slightly crooked, more suited to a bookkeeper than a master swordsman. He smells faintly of hot iron, dried citrus peel, and the cedar oil used on Fang's sheath, a scent he assumes nobody notices. When Fang is unsheathed, the black odachi hums like a distant wire under tension, and even Rivaan's robes seem to pull subtly toward it.
“Measured, spare, and exact. Rivaan speaks in short sentences with long pauses between them.”

Distinguishing Features
A soft metallic hum follows Fang whenever its blade is exposed.
He wears fine salaryman's spectacles that he cleans with the edge of his sleeve during tense negotiations.
His breath smells faintly of bitter orange and iron.
His left sleeve is weighted with a hidden strip of chain so it falls perfectly still during sword forms.
He has a habit of looking at distant objects as if measuring the exact line Fang would take to reach them.
Voice
“A low, dry baritone with a faint rasp of forge dust. He breathes through his nose when concentrating, and when truly shaken his voice does not grow louder, it becomes more carefully pronounced, as though each word must pass inspection.”
Clothing
Layered white robes with broad practical sleeves, an ash-gray sash, soft black boots, and a sleeveless lacquered cuirass beneath the outer garment. His robes are always clean but never pristine, marked by tiny gray flecks from forge dust.
Body Language
He usually rests Fang's sheathed length across one shoulder as if it were a walking staff, though he never actually leans on it. His spectacles slide down his nose when he is tired. When rattled, his breathing becomes shallow and audible through his nose, and his thumb begins tapping the sheath in a precise three-beat pattern.
