Black soot has permanently worked into the ridges of his knuckles, the creases beneath his claws, and the thick scales along his forearms. His blunt crest-horns are scorched at their tips, and one bears a copper sleeve to prevent it from splitting further. His amber-orange eyes glow warmly beneath heavy brow ridges, giving his patient face the impression of a banked furnace. He moves with surprising gentleness for someone so massive, placing each foot as carefully as if the floor were a delicate machine. The contradictory detail is his immaculate, almost ceremonial tail, which he brushes and oils every morning while allowing the rest of himself to remain streaked with grease.
