Quartermaster Thaxen Onyx-Scale
Rogue (Inquisitive) 8 / Artificer 4
Quartermaster Thaxen Onyx-Scale
Species
Dragonborn, Black
Appearance
Thaxen is a lean, unassuming black dragonborn whose muted scales carry an oil-slick sheen that appears only when firelight strikes them. His short, blunt crest-horns are polished smooth from years of scraping against vault lintels, and his narrow snout gives his deadpan expressions an almost carved quality. Acidic-green eyes flick constantly between faces, exits, hinges, and storage markings. He moves with economical, silent precision, folding himself through crowded corridors like a clerk-shaped shadow. The impression he leaves is of a tired accountant who has somehow become the most dangerous object in the room. Unexpectedly, his claws are immaculate and delicately painted with tiny white tally marks, each one representing a person he failed to save.
“Thaxen speaks in clipped, exact sentences filled with quantities, dates, and understated threats. He rarely raises his voice.”

Acidic-green eyes that reflect light like wet glass
Short blunted horns polished smooth from years in cramped vaults
White tally marks painted across the claws of both hands
A thin scar running from the left jaw hinge to the base of the neck

Voice
“A low, dry rasp with the faint hiss of acid in the throat, as though every word has passed through hot metal filings”
Clothing
Dark charcoal leather quartermaster's coat reinforced with hidden metal plates, a high-collared ash-gray shirt, soot-stained gloves, soft black boots, and a broad belt hung with heavy iron keys, abacus beads, chalk sticks, sealing wax, wire, and tiny labeled vials
Body Language
Thaxen keeps his shoulders slightly hunched, as though carrying an invisible ledger. His head tilts a few degrees when evaluating a lie. He rarely points with a finger, instead indicating objects with a key, chalk stick, or the edge of his ledger. During anger, he becomes completely still except for one claw tapping a descending rhythm against his belt.
