Appearance
Khoraz is a tall, broad-shouldered Xzalta whose powerful frame seems built for lifting gates and wrestling oxen, yet he moves with startling delicacy. His hands are enormous, the nails permanently darkened by kiln soot, while his face is calm and almost scholarly. Within a minute of meeting him, most people notice that he rarely looks at faces. His eyes travel instead to door hinges, ceiling beams, belt knots, and the hands of anyone nearby. Before speaking, he draws breath through his nose, closes his mouth as if weighing a stone, and makes a soft clicking sound against one tooth. The unexpected contradiction is his collection of tiny porcelain birds, each no larger than a thumb joint, which he handles with the reverence of a jeweler.
