Sashan Khoruun
Barbarian, Path of the Ancestral Guardian
Sashan Khoruun
Species
Goliath
Appearance
A very large goliath who seems to make rooms smaller simply by entering them. Sashan stands nearly eight feet tall, with a wrestler's shoulders, a barrel chest, and arms corded with the dense, rope-like musculature of someone who has hauled stone rather than merely trained with weapons. His armor is layered in dark gray lamellar plates, each plate thick enough to look like a roof tile, with wool padding bulging at the joints and copper rivets dulled by years of weather. A round ironwood shield nearly as broad as a tavern table hangs from his left arm. He moves with surprising quiet, placing each foot slowly and deliberately, yet the floor often creaks after he has already stopped. His face is broad and weathered, with a heavy brow, a flattened nose, and a mouth that looks stern until he smiles. Unexpectedly, his huge hands are exceptionally delicate when handling bread, bandages, or small animals. Before speaking, he draws in a long breath through his nose, making a soft hiss like wind through grass, then waits just long enough that people wonder whether he has changed his mind.
“Low, measured, and resonant, with a breathy intake before difficult statements. His Giant accent lengthens sibilants and gives ordinary words a deliberate, almost ceremonial weight.”

Distinguishing Features
A soft inhaling hiss precedes nearly every sentence, especially when he is deciding whether to be honest.
His enormous shield has a shallow bowl carved into its center where he serves stew during camp.
He wears a blue clan sash repaired with bright red thread, the color traditionally reserved for mourners.
He has a habit of ducking beneath doorframes even when there is clearly enough clearance.
His knuckles are covered in tiny pale speckles that resemble scattered grains of salt.
His expression is solemn at first meeting, but his eyes constantly track who is cold, hungry, injured, or being ignored.
Voice
“A deep, controlled baritone with a soft rasp, like stones shifting under snow. He rarely raises it. The quieter he becomes, the more seriously he expects to be heard.”
Clothing
Heavy slate-gray lamellar armor over quilted brown wool, a broad weather cloak fastened with a bone toggle, leather climbing harness, fur-lined boots, and a faded blue sash bearing the Kharzun knot-pattern. He wears no helmet unless expecting missile fire, claiming he needs his ears to hear the mountain.
Body Language
Sashan keeps his shield angled toward the most vulnerable person in a group. He lowers his head to listen, not in submission but to spare smaller people the strain of looking up. When troubled, he rubs two fingers across the copper rim of his shield and watches the horizon. When amused, he gives one silent shoulder-shaking laugh before sound catches up with him.
