Korath Red-Vein
Fighter 11, Champion
Korath Red-Vein
Species
Half-Dragon, Red Draconic Ancestry
Appearance
Korath stands like a furnace brace sunk into the earth, broad through the chest and slightly stooped from years spent under low basalt ledges. Crimson scales show beneath a permanent mottling of black ash, with pale mineral dust settled in the seams around his jaw and neck. His lower canines protrude just enough to show whenever he speaks or chews, giving his stern face an unexpectedly domestic quality when he eats. His heat-shielded plate is practical rather than handsome, patched with mismatched rivets and leather straps, while his heavy brass goggles are polished every morning despite the rest of his gear being scarred and soot-dulled. He moves with slow, deliberate care around people, then becomes startlingly quick when a platform cable snaps or a vent coughs.
“Low, rough, and economical, with a faint rasp like a shovel dragged across stone. He pauses before important instructions and repeats the final word if he believes someone is not listening.”

Distinguishing Features
His brass goggles are obsessively polished, with one lens etched by years of volcanic grit.
Two lower canines show when he talks, and he covers his mouth when he laughs.
His armor has visible repairs made from different metals, each repair marked with a tiny stamped worker's initial.
He smells of hot iron, bitter coffee, and sulfur even after washing.
He carries a length of red cord tied around his wrist, one knot for each worker lost during his career.
Voice
“A gravelly baritone with the controlled force of a foreman calling orders over machinery. When danger rises, his voice becomes quieter rather than louder.”
Clothing
Heat-shielded iron plate over a dark quilted work coat, reinforced climbing trousers, soot-stiffened gloves, brass goggles with amber lenses, a faded red neck wrap, and a tool belt crowded with chalk, wedges, wire, and pressure gauges. One shoulder plate is far too large for him, taken from an older suit and carefully reshaped by hand.
Body Language
He keeps one hand near the head of his pick-hammer and angles his body toward the nearest exit or safety line. When angry, he becomes very still. When worried, he rubs the brass rim of his goggles with one soot-stained thumb.
