Vespera Cog-Weaver
Artificer
Vespera Cog-Weaver
Species
Rock Gnome
Appearance
Vespera is an older rock gnome woman with a compact, weather-hardened body and hands knotted by decades of delicate work. Silver threads run through her dark brown hair, which she keeps in a utility braid bound with copper rings. Her hazel eyes remain sharply focused behind spectacles assembled from six mismatched brass lenses, each one designed for a different distance or light level. She moves with small, economical steps, but when danger sounds, she becomes startlingly quick, turning her entire body toward a vibration before anyone else notices it. Her mantle is charcoal-gray and faintly rough beneath the fingers, woven with sound-dampening fibers, copper filament, and strips of resin-stiffened bark. She smells of machine oil, wet pine, and bitter tea. The unexpected softness of her appearance is her smile, warm and almost grandmotherly, which often appears while she is ordering someone to evacuate a collapsing tower.
“Her voice is low, dry, and remarkably clear, with a gentle rolling cadence. She pauses before important words as if testing their resonance in the room.”

Distinguishing Features
Six-lensed brass spectacles with one lens permanently cracked but never replaced.
A thin white scar across her left palm from the first listening tree she repaired.
Copper filaments woven through her utility braid that hum faintly near active machinery.
A tiny brass ear charm made from the broken vibration plate that failed during the Rainblind Incursion.
Her left glove bears a stitched pattern of three concentric circles, the Concord's confirmation mark.
Voice
“A low, resonant contralto with a soft rasp, like a tuning fork wrapped in wool. Her words carry easily through rain and machinery without ever becoming loud.”
Clothing
A charcoal sound-dampening mantle over a russet work vest, reinforced trousers, fingerless leather gloves, soft-soled field boots, a copper-thread utility braid, and a belt crowded with calipers, chalk, tuning forks, resin capsules, and folded survey maps
Body Language
Vespera keeps her chin slightly lowered, as if listening through the bones of her face. Her fingers tap quiet three-beat patterns against her thumb. In conversation she angles one brass lens toward the speaker, then another toward the surrounding room. When anger breaks through her discipline, she becomes perfectly still except for the tightening of the copper wire around her wrist.
