Vask Tether-Claw
Rogue 6, Thief
Vask Tether-Claw
Species
Cinderclaw, Forge-Kin
Appearance
Vask Tether-Claw is a compact cinderclaw with rust-red scales, a broad wedge-shaped muzzle, and scorched horn-tips that curl backward like blackened iron hooks. His body is built for cramped maintenance tunnels rather than open battle, all spring-loaded legs, wiry shoulders, and quick hands that never seem entirely still. He moves with a sideways climbing gait on level ground, favoring his left foot whenever he judges a surface unstable. His scales are rubbed bright along the elbows and knees from years of crawling through rigging housings. The unexpected thing about him is his immaculate grooming. Every scale around his throat and jaw is polished with fragrant machine oil, while the rest of him bears soot, salt, and copper filings. He leaves behind the impression of a small furnace that has learned to worry.
“His voice is quick, rasping, and surprisingly warm, with the clipped rhythm of someone accustomed to shouting over steam vents and mountain wind. He speaks in short bursts when working, then becomes unexpectedly eloquent when describing a dangerous machine or a worker who deserved better treatment.”

Distinguishing Features
Scorched black horn-tips that smell faintly of hot iron when he becomes agitated.
A habit of polishing the scales around his throat with machine oil, giving them a dark metallic shine.
A bright orange signal scarf that he can tie into emergency knots faster than most people can draw a weapon.
His left claw is fitted with a tiny brass tension gauge used to test cables by touch.
He carries a narrow strip of red-painted chain from the Deck Nine collapse, worn like a bracelet around his right ankle.
Voice
“A rapid, gravelly cinderclaw voice that carries over machinery, softened by an unexpectedly gentle laugh.”
Clothing
A dark oilskin harness crosses his chest and hips, loaded with grease guns, tension wrenches, brass calipers, chalk, folded cable diagrams, and climbing ropes. He wears heat-treated leather boots with hooked soles, fingerless gloves reinforced with copper plates, a soot-brown work shirt, and a battered orange neck scarf used as a signal flag during emergencies.
Body Language
His tail makes small corrective movements whenever he is calculating risk. He taps tools against his wrist in repeating patterns, crouches instead of sitting, and keeps one hand near a cable or fixed surface even during ordinary conversation. When angry, he becomes perfectly still except for the slow tightening of his jaw.
