Appearance
Jorai is a lean, weather-darkened man whose stillness feels more alert than restful. He has the long, flexible posture of someone accustomed to sleeping in trees and walking on unstable ground. His hands are the first thing people notice: broad-palmed, deeply callused, and stained blue-black around the nails from bow wax, crushed berries, and years of handling wet ironwood. His movements are economical until he suddenly crosses a room with startling softness. He wears a mild, almost scholarly smile while discussing traps and dismemberment, yet becomes visibly tender around injured animals. The contradiction is unsettling: he looks like a patient woodsman, but carries himself like a man always expecting the horizon to betray him.
“His voice is low and unhurried, with rounded vowels and a faint sing-song cadence. He speaks Common clearly but lets place names and personal names retain their original pronunciation.”

Distinguishing Features
His fingertips are ridged with old bowstring calluses, and his thumbs have small crescent dents from years of fletching arrows.
He wears one perfectly maintained red cord around his left wrist, despite otherwise neglecting and patching his clothing.
A faint smell of rain, pine resin, and bitter plum clings to him even after days away from the forest.
He has a habit of standing beneath door lintels rather than in the center of rooms.
Voice
“Low, warm, and slightly breathy, with the controlled rhythm of someone accustomed to speaking quietly across long distances”
Clothing
A faded indigo coat hangs slightly too large on him, patched with mismatched squares of sailcloth and fox-colored wool. Its cuffs are carefully darned, while the shoulders are sun-bleached and fraying. Beneath it he wears a sleeveless quilted vest, soft trail trousers, and wrappings around his calves. A single immaculate red cord is tied around his left wrist, the only item he keeps perfectly maintained.
Body Language
Jorai rarely faces anyone squarely unless he intends to fight. He rests two fingers against his bowstring when thinking, tilts his head toward distant sounds, and keeps one heel slightly raised as if the ground might shift. When lying, he becomes unusually motionless. When genuinely afraid, he smiles and begins tidying nearby objects.
