Nekati Gataka
Species
Human
Appearance
Nekati Gataka is tall enough to make doorways feel poorly designed, with raven-black hair worn in a heavy rope down her back and brown eyes that seem almost amber when she is angry. She moves with deliberate economy, placing each foot as though testing thin ice, then suddenly crosses a room with startling speed. Her skin has the dry, fine texture of old parchment at the hands and throat, while her face remains youthful enough to make the contrast unsettling. She wears a permanent, faintly amused expression even while discussing slaughter. The unexpected contradiction is her immaculate hands: despite her corpse-work, her nails are carefully polished and her fingers smell faintly of clove oil.
“Her voice is low, precise, and unexpectedly warm, with clipped consonants and a faint rhythmic cadence learned from old funerary chants. She speaks quickly when discussing magic, slowly when discussing the dead, and never raises her volume unless she is pretending to lose control.”

Distinguishing Features
A thin line of silver ink circles each finger joint, forming a miniature funerary script.
Her raven-black hair is threaded with tiny bronze bell clappers that make sound only when she moves quickly.
She keeps one immaculate silver cuff while the matching cuff is made from patched black leather.
She smiles at funerary bells but winces at children's laughter.
Her shadow sometimes points toward the nearest grave instead of following the light.
Voice
“A low contralto with a dry, bell-like resonance, intimate enough to make threats sound like invitations.”
Clothing
A charcoal wool coat cut too long in the sleeves, repaired with mismatched violet thread, over layered black linen and a high leather collar. One silver cuff is polished obsessively while the rest of her clothing is patched and travel-stained. She wears soft, split-toed boots, a belt of stoppered bone vials, and a faded blue sash that belonged to her brother.
Body Language
She waits with her weight balanced on the balls of her feet and one hand resting lightly over her sternum, as if listening to a second heartbeat. When lying, she becomes unusually still. When genuinely delighted, she tilts her head toward the nearest corpse as if sharing the joke with it.
