Evi
Evi
At the table
Voice
A young, clear voice with a slight rasp from dry air and too many hours speaking over a busy shrine. She clips the ends of sentences when anxious, but her words tumble faster when explaining herbs. Anger makes her more direct and forceful, not quieter.
She speaks in a clear, practical way, shaped by hours of listening to patients describe pain and by a childhood spent learning which words kept adults from turning angry. With Naturie she uses quick jokes and unfinished sentences; with strangers she chooses each word carefully.
Speech patterns
How to play them
Treat Evi as a child in need of safety and agency. Speak plainly, offer choices, ask before approaching or touching, and do not press for details of the assault. Do not frame her pregnancy as scandal, punishment, or a plot device. If players can help, prioritize immediate protection, confidential medical care, and her wishes.
Goal
Stay somewhere safe, receive trustworthy medical care, and regain the ability to make choices about her own life.
Motivation
To feel safe enough to make her own choices, and to keep Naturie from facing the danger alone.
Appearance
Evi is small and wiry, with a watchful, tired face and a stubborn set to her jaw. Her dark hair is hacked unevenly at the shoulders, usually tucked behind one ear. Her hands draw notice first: fingertips stained with crushed herbs, nails cut short, and a faint green tint caught in the creases from making poultices. She checks the knot of her sleeve whenever a door opens, a tiny motion she seems not to notice. She moves quickly when she has a task and goes very still when an adult blocks her path. The impression she leaves is of someone trying hard to look braver than she feels.
Clothing
A practical, loose wool dress, sturdy leggings, and a large shawl she chooses to wear when she can. The household's prohibition against covering her is an act of coercion; the narrative treats it as abuse, not as an aesthetic detail.
Body language
She keeps her shoulders slightly hunched in unfamiliar company, fingers worrying the sleeve seam. Around trusted people she uncurls, leans in to listen, and gestures with quick, herb-stained hands. She flinches at blocked doorways and dislikes anyone standing behind her.

Background
Evi is Naturie's younger sister, raised in a riverside household where the family name mattered more than the comfort of its children. Her grandfather, who controlled the household and its money, assaulted her. She is now pregnant as a result. Evi has been forbidden to cover her body by the people who claim authority over her; this is coercive abuse, not a custom she accepts. She has begun quietly refusing that order, wrapping herself in a plain shawl whenever she can. The turning point came when Naturie found Evi hiding in the herb shed after a night of threats. Naturie believed her, gave her a cloak, and helped her reach a small shrine where the priestess Seta arranged protection and medical care. Evi learned basic healing there, first to tend her own exhaustion and then to help other people. She still fears retaliation and worries that seeking help will bring danger to Naturie. Her immediate problems are finding a safe place to stay, receiving confidential medical care, and deciding what she wants for her future without anyone making that decision for her.
Role in the story
A young survivor whose safety, choices, and trust should matter more than the revelation of her abuse. Evi can connect the party to Naturie and the shrine, but she is not a quest object: players should be able to protect her without demanding disclosure or forcing a particular decision about her pregnancy.
“Her grandfather, who controlled the household and its money, assaulted her.”
- Faction
- The riverside shrine's informal circle of healers and protectors; no formal faction allegiance.
